All
children take part in singing lessons and participate in musical
activities with percussion instruments.
We have
a music teacher who teaches the children in ability groups.
They learn to play untuned percussion instruments initially,
progressing towards tuned percussion instruments. The recorder
is taught to all children from Year 2 upwards which helps in the
learning of notation.
Parents are invited
to our school music productions and assemblies during the year.
A peripatetic music
teacher comes once a week to teach small groups the clarinet, or
flute in years 5 & 6 and the fife in years 3 & 4.
The
highlight of the year is our musical production which takes place at
the end of the summer term. All children take part.
Recent production have included The Sound of Music, Joseph, Oliver, Jungle
Book and Going for Gold. An experience not to be missed!
