Assessment
takes place continuously from the very earliest days at
school. Parents will be asked to contribute to our baseline
assessment when their child begins in the Reception class.
In May, statuary
assessment takes place at the end of the Key Stages, in
Year 2 and Year 6. Optional SATs are taken by children in Year
3, Year 4 and Year 5. This

At the
Valley School, we believe that children are happiest, and produce
their best work, when parents are working in partnership with the
school. For this reason, we believe it is essential that
you have both formal and informal opportunities to discuss your
child with the staff. |
Parent's
evenings are used for this purpose when you can view your child's
work. |
During the
year there will be three open evenings, one each term, at which
parents and teachers can discuss children's progress. |
Shortly
before the summer term's parent's evening, you will receive a
written report of your child's progress, and should your child have
completed a formal assessment at the end of a key stage, you will
also receive a report of that assessment. |
Parents
will be invited to visit the school on other occasions to share our
assemblies, sporting activities, book fairs etc. |
However,
parents wishing to discuss any matter concerning their child may see
a member of staff after school, when the arrangement of a convenient
time can be made. |
