African Drumming

On
Friday October 14th Mr Steve Dawson called in to give Y5/6 an
African Drumming lesson. We all had a drum and first we learnt that
they made much better sounds when the holes on the bottom were
uncovered.

After
that Steve told us about the two strokes that we would be using, one
was a whole- handed strike in the middle of the drum and the other
was a slap with the fingers on the side.

Then
we sang a song and learnt the dance move ‘The Alligator Bounce’
and did a song about an alligator.
We then did a lot of routines on the drums
and did some rounds with one half of the room playing one piece then
the other half.

We
then learnt another song which we performed to the rest of the
school.

It
was a great morning and we can't wait to hear the CD made of our
drumming. |
